Careers

Join us at MantaBio.

Rapid-growth and innovative culture. We're a lean, high-impact team based just north of Boston — and we're hiring.

Building the technology biopharma actually needs.

At MantaBio, we're building technology that helps biopharma manufacturers detect microbial contamination in real time — dramatically reducing risk and accelerating timelines for the therapies that depend on it.

Our mission is to replace outdated, slow cell-culture testing with fast, accurate, and automated solutions that meet the needs of modern biologics production. Everyone here plays a hands-on role in shaping the product, the company, and the culture.

If you're energized by building from the ground up — and want your work to matter — we'd love to meet you.

Why work with us.

We're not just building a product — we're solving a real problem in an industry that needs better tools. Your work has clear purpose and immediate impact.

We're actively hiring across several functions. If you don't see a role that matches your background but believe you'd add value to the team, send your resume to careers@mantabio.com — we'll keep it on file for future opportunities.

Lead Systems Engineer
Beverly, MA

About the Role

As Lead Systems Engineer, you'll be instrumental in integrating mechanical, electrical, fluidic, optical, and consumable components into a cohesive platform. You'll help drive development of a complex, fully integrated product — transitioning from prototype to commercial readiness. This role requires deep technical fluency, cross-disciplinary thinking, and a hands-on approach.

What You'll Do — Systems Integration & Prototyping

  • Design and build electromechanical subsystems including fluid handling, thermal cycling, and optical detection.
  • Develop breadboards and alpha prototypes to mitigate technical risk prior to commercial development.
  • Integrate pumps, valves, manifolds, heaters, sensors, and optics into reliable systems.

Design & Development

  • Use CAD (SolidWorks preferred) for mechanical design and support prototyping via CNC machining, 3D printing, or injection molding.
  • Analyze experimental data to inform iterative design (bonus points for Python or MATLAB fluency).

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with software, biology, chemistry, and electronics teams to ensure seamless integration.
  • Operate with autonomy and a "get it done fast" mindset in a startup environment.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of experience as a systems engineer in hardware-focused environments.
  • MS in Engineering preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in CAD and one or more data analysis environments (Python, MATLAB, etc.).
  • Hands-on, self-directed, and execution-driven mindset.

What We Offer

  • Salary: Competitive within early-stage startups
  • Equity: Significant ownership
  • Benefits: Health, dental, vision, and 401(k)
